ABOUT TOOSOUR
A Bit of Background
David Gaylord is a photographer, cinematographer, and designer. He studied photography and design at Pacific Lutheran University. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking at California State University Long Beach in 1987. He has multiple certificates in design. He has completed over 2000 pieces of creative work in the last 35 years and his art and photography is included in hundreds of collections throughout the world. Important themes and interests of David’s include: Mental health, patriarchy/sexism, racism, body image, abortion rights, environment, disabled justice, climate/energy, LGBT+ rights, immigration rights, income inequality, education, and homelessness.
During the last 20 years @toosourfilms, David has worked in film and video with artists, dance companies, festivals, and schools such as Nina Haft and Company, Paufve Dance (Randee Paufve), Frolikdance (Alisa Rasera), Dana Lawton Dances, Jill Randall, Jia Wu, Pope Flyne, Greta Turkin, Nava Dance (Nadhi Thekkek), Jyotsna Vaidee, Surabhi Bharadwaj, Bandelion Dance (Eric Kupers), Davalos Dance (CatherineMarie Davalos), Rogelio Lopez and Dancers, Stranger Lover Dreamer (Elizebeth Randal, Shauna Vella, Andrew Merrell), Deborah Slater Dance Theater, Calliope Dance (Rosana Barragan), Firehouse Art Collective (Tom Franco), Festival of Latin American Contemporary Choreographers (Liz Duran Boubion), International Arts Festival (Andrew Wood), Shawl Anderson Dance Center, Marin Academy, Saint Mary’s College, Oakland School for the Arts, and Salesian College Preparatory.
As a filmmaker David’s work has been shown worldwide and received Laurels from Canada Shorts - Canadian & International Short Film Festival, Cine Pobre Film Festival, Mexico, Transmit Lost Dances, and the Manchester Lift Off Film Festival, online.
